I have always loved the saints. I am inspired by the way they lived both ordinary and extraordinary lives with faith and courage. They struggled with sin, yet continually chose holiness. They loved, served, and prayed with their whole hearts, minds, and souls. And in getting to know them, I have always found myself drawn closer to Jesus.
Until recently, however, I had very little relationship with St. Joseph. Just a few months ago, I knew almost nothing about him beyond the fact that he was the foster father of Jesus. I had never really thought about what it meant that he lived with, raised, and protected Our Lord for nearly thirty years.
Looking back now, I am amazed that it never occurred to me how important it might be to know the heart of the man entrusted with such a sacred mission. After completing my consecration to St. Joseph on the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker, I realized just how much I had been missing.
In only 33 days of prayer, reading, and daily intercession, my relationship with him has already changed my spiritual life. If you do not yet know St. Joseph well, I invite you to begin getting to know him and watch how God uses this devotion to transform your heart.

St. Joseph was a faithful, loving, and trusting companion of both Jesus and Mary. Consecration to St. Joseph means entrusting ourselves to his spiritual fatherhood so that he may help us grow in those same virtues. Just as he taught Jesus how to pray, work, sacrifice, and love, he now desires to teach us. Through his intercession, he helps us grow in humility, obedience, purity, courage, and trust in God. He gently leads us toward deeper holiness and intimacy with Christ.
Holiness is not reserved for a select few. It is not perfection without struggle. It is living in intimate, loving communion with God. On our own, holiness is impossible because of our fallen nature. But through the Holy Spirit and sanctifying grace, it becomes possible. These gifts are given to us through prayer, the sacraments, and a life rooted in Christ. St. Joseph shows us that holiness is lived in daily faithfulness, quiet obedience, and loving service.
Sacred Scripture tells us little about St. Joseph’s words, but it reveals much about his character. He was a descendant of King David, chosen by God to protect the Holy Family. He was just, humble, courageous, and obedient. He listened to God’s voice and responded without hesitation. He was the chaste spouse of the Mother of God and the earthly father of the Son of God. The virtue required for such a vocation is almost beyond comprehension.
The Church honors him as:
He is a powerful intercessor and a gentle spiritual father who desires to lead souls to Jesus.
Over the past 33 days, I have been praying, reading, and meditating on St. Joseph’s life, faith, and heart. I followed the consecration using Consecration to St. Joseph: The Wonders of Our Spiritual Father, which I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone seeking a deeper relationship with God.
Through this devotion, my faith has been strengthened. My desire for holiness has been renewed. My understanding of marriage, family life, and vocation has deepened. Most of all, I have grown in confidence that God is actively forming me through the saints He places in my life.
St. Joseph is a gift to the Church and to every soul seeking holiness in ordinary life. His quiet strength, unwavering trust, and faithful love continue to inspire me daily. If you are longing for deeper peace, greater virtue, and a stronger relationship with Christ, I encourage you to consider consecration to St. Joseph. Allow him to be your spiritual father. You may be surprised by how powerfully he leads you to Jesus.
