I have always loved the saints. I am inspired by the way they lived both ordinary and extraordinary lives with faith and courage. They struggled with sin, yet continually chose holiness. They loved, served, and prayed with their whole hearts, minds, and souls. And in getting to know them, I have always found myself drawn closer to Jesus.
Until recently, however, I had very little relationship with St. Joseph. Just a few months ago, I knew almost nothing about him beyond the fact that he was the foster father of Jesus. I had never really thought about what it meant that he lived with, raised, and protected Our Lord for nearly thirty years.
Looking back now, I am amazed that it never occurred to me how important it might be to know the heart of the man entrusted with such a sacred mission. After completing my consecration to St. Joseph on the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker, I realized just how much I had been missing.

What Is Consecration to St. Joseph?

Who Is St. Joseph?
Sacred Scripture tells us little about St. Joseph’s words, but it reveals much about his character. He was a descendant of King David, chosen by God to protect the Holy Family. He was just, humble, courageous, and obedient. He listened to God’s voice and responded without hesitation. He was the chaste spouse of the Mother of God and the earthly father of the Son of God. The virtue required for such a vocation is almost beyond comprehension.

- Comfort of the afflicted
- Hope of the sick
- Patron of the dying
- Terror of demons
- Protector of Holy Church
He is a powerful intercessor and a gentle spiritual father who desires to lead souls to Jesus.
