Christian Birth Affirmations
Language is powerful. The words we say to ourselves hold weight. The ideas we think about ourselves and our lives are meaningful. It all makes a difference & is important to pay attention to. We are more likely to live and act in a way that reinforces what we already believe to be true, so regardless of what would have been otherwise, we create a self-fulfilling prophecy. This matters in all areas of life, but for today let’s focus on women’s birth experiences.
Often the conversations regarding labor & delivery are focused on the negative. Prior to giving birth, many women only know they’ve seen portrayed in media, which tends to be grossly exaggerated and shows an unrealistic example of an extremely unpleasant experience. For these and other reasons, women may feel fearful & lack confidence in their ability to birth. Let’s change that, shall we?
Instead of being afraid of our upcoming births (or current labor, as we actively bring forth new life), intentionally choosing to affirm & encourage ourselves in our abilities will make a significant difference. Shifting from a fearful and negative mindset to a confident and courageous mindset will change our experience overall.
Here are some examples of positive Christian birth affirmations. Say them out loud, with boldness in your voice. Even if you don’t believe them all at first, keep it up! You get to decide what you believe about this experience & your thoughts will impact the outcome.

This is just a start! In addition to these, think about the negative thoughts that cross your mind when thinking of birth. Make a list & see if you can come up with affirmations for yourself based on the concerns, fears, lies, and scary thoughts that come up for you. Repeat them to yourself often. Affirmations are an extremely useful tool when preparing for birth, you can say them daily throughout your pregnancy. They are also valuable to be used during labor and delivery. You can repeat them to yourself or have a spouse/support person say them to you as you go through each contraction and push.
I’d love for you to add your own birth affirmations that you love most in the comments below to inspire other women. You got this, mama! Xx
